Olympus TG-6

The final visit to Miyajima in 2022.

Olympus 50-230mm(1600)
RICHO GR (1400)
iPhone SE (1200)
Nikon keymission (1000)

For the reduced numbers of the train in New years season, I had to wait for thirty minutes at Higashi-Hiroshima station.
There were few passengers on this train, though many people were walking around Hiroshima city. Possibly, it was a little early and 8:30 AM.

It took an hour and a half to Miyajima-guchi station and many passengers got off.

Many tourists were waiting at both piers.

It was blowing a cold wind but was shining, too so, I couldn't feel so cold.

It was changing from low tide to high tide and there were still many people on the beach, but after one hour we could not walk at that place.
I was just a little disappointed.

It was 10:30 AM on December 31th and at that time the number of passengers had been increasing, because Itsyukusima-Shrine was the most popular for the people, who would go on the first visit of the year to shrine.

I only walked to Yogai-Hill and enjoyed the last scenery of 2022.

Imaise-Shrine was dressed up!! ★ (*^-^*)

Although I had little religion, I always prayed to this shrine.

This was the only point, where I could look at Machiya-Street from Yogai-Hill, but it is possible to enjoy it only in winter, because except in winter, there were many
leaves on the trees and they concealed Machiya-Street.

Today I brought a camera with a zoom lens, so I could take enlarged photos. (*^-^*)

I thought that this scene was one of the most specific ones of Miyajima, It was great that many people lived in a house with a narrow gable roof with a friendly shoulder-to-shoulder.

Coming here without a car, I could do, as possible as I want. (*^-^*)
Sake and Wine in fact!

Usually, such expensive sandwichs could not be sold but today was a special day, I bought it for the first time. 💦 (*^^)v

Nice atmosphere!....Quiet.
Sometimes, local people were walking or talking together, but tourists were rarely coming.

Going down the stairs, I always turned to the right, but this time I went to the left, because of some reason.

Coming back to the previous cross point and going to Machiya-Street. On this night, the final event, called Chinkasai-Festival would be held.
Until this festival would begin, the members of the Chamber of Commerce were parading all over the town carrying a big touch on their shoulders.
During this time, I was able to admire a very precious sight, very lucky!

The person wearing the blue happi-coat on the right is the owner of the rickshaw shop. The fact that the member of the Chamber of Commerce was given a gold envelope from that person s
o,Good luck! they said.
Everyone looked like it was going to be a lot of fun.

IMG_8389.mp4 へのリンク

There are some very narrow paths between Shopping-Street and Machiya-Street and this time, I walked one of them.

In the area between Machiya-dori and the shopping street, there are many houses with narrow frontages and long depths.
I think that if there is such a narrow road, it will be convenient to get out of the front door or the back door, and it will be convenient to take a shortcut.

There were some shopping stores in Miyajima and this was in the center of town.
Beside the entrance, many kinds of daily life goods were sold and in them small touchs, using in Chinkasai-Festivas were sold, too.
And there were many othere special goods for welcome the New year....mandarin oranges with leaves, Toshikoshi soba-Noodles,small sized-Mochi, Kagami-Mochi and Chikuzen-ni.

From now, I went to the place in Nishimachi. And at first, I was walking around Yanagikoji Road and next to Takikoji Road, too.
Walking around these areas, I took some photos, which were very old houses and shrine estates on stone walls.

This is one of the oldest and most precious houses in Yimajima.

This souvenir shop was renovated some years ago.

Mr. Sakata, the owner of this house was a very famous folk crapt artist.
A friend of mine, whose hoby was collcting folk crafts, had some ones, which he had made.

Mr. Sakata had already dead, but his wife wants to keep the old style of his shop.

This point was the end of Yanagikoji Road in the area of Tradicional Buildings.

Now, I went to Takikoji Road.

Whenever I would pass by this house, I couldn't help thinking about what the matter was!
Probably, there would have been lots of problems....

After reading this document, I always looked at this, carefully. But when I would enter this shop, I finally would be able to understand the special affection of the owner.

                                                13/20

These two photos were the noble estate fot Shinto Priests.

But to tell the truth, I can't help but feel a certain inaccessibility rather than divineness in these historic sites. That may be one of the reasons why I don't feel so close to Shinto.
Of course, I would be very interested in the historical and architectural splendor.

Shiraito river was running in the center and on the right side, it was Taki machi and on the left side was Nakanishi machi.
The roads in this area were very narrow, it was possible to go by car for only a few roads, Instead, it was very quiet.
Although in Higashi machi, there were only low mountains, there were some mountains in Nishi machi. There were Shiraito river and Momijidani river, which were the main rivers in Miyajima so, in the rainy season, many showers of rains were running into these two rivers with many earths, wood and huge rocks. Sometimes big troubles occurred.

Usually, I went to this place, first. But this time, I wanted to go Nishi machi quickly.
Actually whenever I would come to Miyajima, I always wanted to see these beautiful sceneries.

In Itsukushima Shrine, many poeple were coming.....

It was a lunch time for deers.

Near this place, this plate was standing and there were some troubles about the coexistence between people and wild deers...
I will think that a little support is OK from us to deer.

After all, I like these sceneries best of all. (*^^)v

This Sake was made by Hakubotan in Higashi-Hiroshima city.

☝:About this blog....
Except for Kamoizumi Sake Brewery, which is the largest brewery, all breweries are family-run and small-scale. So they are managed with a minimum of staff. I think it would be difficult to provide full-time guidance to the tourists. I would appreciate it if you could understand these fact.

Of course, the content of this bottle was not Japanese tea ....too drunk. 💦💦

The preparation for 2023 was already finished! and from this night many people would be coming, continuously.

I was able to make a lot of wonderful memories this year.
See you next year....

22.12.25

 images till December 22th

From last Sunday, it had been snowing, because a big cold air mass came here, twice a week. But it is fine today and the snow stopped to fall down.
But the many snows remaind and it will take some days to disapper them all.

It had been very cold for some days, so icicles grew day by day.

This photo was taken at 7:30 AM so, nobady came to the office. There are many separated lines of each parking space on the ground, but because of the snows, we can't see these lines. So, when we will park my car, we will tend to get a little more space to another car. Finally some cars can't be parked here, though they will be OK at a usual time.

There are some views to the west.

Those mountains have an altitude of 800m.

At the front gate, the Sazanka is blooming, next to next.

On the road in front of my office, there are many frozen snow and it is dangerous!

At the entrance, there is a little uphill and if it has a more snow,it will be impossible to climb up with a sedan type car.
Unfortunatelly,I met this phenomena many times and I feel miserable at each time. 💦💦

In the morning, the sun begins shining and the mountains, which covered with snow, will becoming beautiful.

Footstep only remains, and who are you? (*^^)v

22.12.11

Miyajima is in winter but there were many tourists.

Although the season of autumn leves was ended, many poeple were coming here.

It was very cold in the morning, but it was becoming warm after that.
In winter, the north wind often blows strongly, but unusually, the sea was calm.

Looking at the Tonooka(塔の丘) and Five-storied Pagoda, the autumn leaves were decreasing.

Looking down at the shopping street (covered with whitish roof ), many tourists were walking here and there.
Of course, I didn't want to go there. The quiet is the best for me. The sounds of crowd will get me irritated but those of locals' chat, the baby's cry from the house and the broadcast sounds are making me to cheer up!

The Torii-gate has returned to the original form... For these 3 years, that had been under construction with many kinds of materials, so now I can feel that is too simple.

All of ferry boats were running without a rest, so two ferries moored at one pier. There is no scene witout busy time.

In Yogai-Hill, there was a small temple that didn't celebrate a specific ascetic.

Born in the 6th year (634) of Emperor Kinmei of Katsuragi Kamigun, Yamato Province, who is known as a person who has worked hard while traveling around the country.
When he was 32 years old, he entered Mt. Katsuragi and recited the curse of Kujaku Myoo to gain enlightenment and perform a divine miracle.
In the second year (673) of Emperor Monmu, he was exiled to Izu due to slanderous words, and in the first year of Taiho (706), he was pardoned and returned.
It is a shrine that enshrines the founder of Shugendo because it does not know where it will end.
May 10, 1970

At Yogai-Hill, there were many cherry trees and when I had been to this place two weeks before, there had been a few autumn leaves.
But now there was no leaf on the tree and instead of that, there were many colorful fallen leaves on the ground.

Before coming to this place, I went to a supermarket and bought a pine torch.
At the end of this year, Chinka-sai Festival will be held.

This pine torch is decorated on the altar in everyhouse and they will buy a new one to replace the old.
Of course, I will go to Chinka-sai Festival with this new one.

In Miyajima, there are wild deers, but they become used to new environment of human being.
They often get too familiar with people. So, I protect myself from them with peppermint spray and it's so effective.

I started to walk from Yogai-Hill to Yamabe-Path and I can see this old house, nobady lives. But recently, it has been renovated by a certain Ryokan.
I hope that the day when we can stay here will come soon.

This is one of 10 wells which Senshin priest have built, called Senshin Tsurii. Now, there are 4 wells in Miyajima.

This is another well of Senshin Thurii.

From this area we must climb up a small hill and we can see fine views.

At that point where a wild deer is looking at me, I will turn to the left and walk a little....

Finally I can enjoy one of the most beautiful scenery in Miyajima. (*^-^*)

☝:Looking up to the left, we can see Five-storied Pagoda and Hokoku Shrine(Senjokaku) on Tono-Oka(塔の丘).

The following three photos are the townscapes of Higashimachi.(東町)

I would like to call this place "my secret view point"
I have been to this place for many times, but I seldom met Japanese tourists except local poeple, but I could meet foreign tourists again and again.
Probably, this point will be introduced in Traveler's guide of Miyajima. (*^^)v

Next, I came up to the quiet place, so called Inkyoba(隠居場). Why?....
In this place, there are many cherry trees and we can enjoy good scenery of the sea and the townscape, so old people(隠居) are assembled together in every evening.
This is the place(場: ba) where old people(隠居: inkyo) are assembled. Finally this place is called Inkyo-ba. (*^^)v

The big stone monument of Senshin Priest.

A little hill, where we can enjoy beautiful scenery of the sea and very famous buildings is the memorial place where Jinsenji-Temple(神専寺).had been.
In this temple, Senshin-Priest had been practicing about 240 years ago.

This red bridge, called Momijidani-Bashi (紅葉谷 橋) is very famous and when every yourist will come to this bridge, they always take photos with their friends.

This round bowl, made of stone is called Chozu Bachi (手水鉢).

Chozu Bachi:Originally, it meant a vessel for rinsing one's mouth and purifying one's body in front of a shrine or altar. After that, it was also incorporated into the tea ceremony.

When we will go to Momijidani-Bashi, we wll turn to the left and meet these noble houses, where aristocrats, including members of the royal family, stayed here.

There are some data of these houses in this blog.

Especially, this front gate is gorgeous...

I'm back in the real world....(*^-^*)

From the other side across the creek, we can see those noble houses.

The peak season of autumn leaves has passed, we can enjoy colorful autumn leaves in some places.

,Walking through Momiji-Path and Asebi-Path, we can enjoy beautiful sceneries of Nishimachi and the sea.

If we look at the sunlight from behind the leaves of maple, we can enjoy another beauty.

We can see the cruise ship after 1pm along Asebi-Path.

This two storied pagoda is called Tahoto-Pagoda, built in 1523.

Comparing with Five storied Pagoda, it is very simple but I will think that the combination of straight lines and curves is very beautiful.

I like best to look at Tahoto-Pagoda from this direction and I can enjoy the scenery of each season.

When looking at Nishi-machi, I like this direction, best.

The right side of me, there is Jukeiso-Hotel and at the top roof, the live cameras have been working.

Thanks to these cameras, we can see live scenes of Miyajima in daily TV programs.

After walking about 10 minutes, I can arrive at the seaside, called Nishino-Matsubara shore(西松原).
In front of me, the blue sea spreads all over and a pleasant breeze always blows.
Most comfortable !!

I can rare see the wild deer, walking on the seashore and she may have come to beg for food from humans.

Many tourists will not come to this far area, so it is always guiet except tourist seasons.
I will sometimes stay for a long time in this place with a portable chair.

Until just a month ago, a lot of people used to walk through a dedicated passageway and look directly at the Torii.
Now it's already quiet like a lie.

At last I came back to Itsukushima Shrine and there were many tourists.

This is the last well of 4 Senshin Tsuriis.

I arrived at Miyajima-Guchi.
I was just tired but had a very good time. (*^-^*)
